Repetitions
Repetitions are the third possibility to achieve a harmonic color impression. Repetitions still seem harmonic, if disharmonic color combinations are repeated:
 Repetition
Due to the layout, it is quite frequently not possible to repeat a disharmonic color combination often enough on one page. Here it would be better to add a third color to complement the angular harmony or to create a color row.
There is a famous exception, though: the wallpaper. A wallpaper always seems harmonic; no matter which shape or color. The reason for this is that a pattern recurs rythmically on a wallpaper and thus results in a texture effect. Why repetitions always seem harmonic will be discussed in the chapter Surface Design.
Since we like textures very well, they can also be calculated with computer programs. Every good graphic program offers the option of producing a texture, even with the help of an "assistant". The assistant merely asks you to feed the rough parameters into the computer, e.g. structure of the surface, color tendency, rate of repetition etc., and the rest will be calculated by the algorithm. No matter which color or shape you have chosen, we will always achieve a harmonic effect by means of repetition.
